Social Chatter: Social Media Marketing Talk Show - Episode 272 Twitter Verification, How to Get Verified On Twitter This week, Twitter announced that they will be relaunching Twitter verification. Under the Twitter verification program, Twitter can enable verification on an account. They can also remove it on one that already has it if they repeatedly violate Twitter rules or haven't followed the new guidelines for verification. To get verified on Twitter, you will need the following. A verified email address or phone number A profile image A display name Twitter had this to say about verified accounts. We'll begin enforcing this policy on January 20, 2021, which is also when we'll begin automatically removing the verified badge from inactive and incomplete accounts. How to Get Verified On Twitter To get Twitter verification, you will need to apply according to Twitter. We are excited to relaunch public applications for verification in 2021 through a new, self-serve application process that will be available on the Account Settings page on the web and in-app. The process will include asking applicants to select a category for their verified status and confirming their identity via links and other supporting materials. We plan to use both automated and human review processes to ensure that we are reviewing applications thoughtfully and in a timely manner. We also plan to give people the option to share demographic information after completing the new verification application so that we can better measure and improve the equity of our verification process. Having a blue checkmark or verified icon, does not mean your business will start generating business. It can lead to new opportunities, including being asked to be on livestreams, podcasts, featured in blog posts and more. Eventually, being Twitter verified can start to generate paid opportunities because you're a verified, potentially credible source, rather than a bot. Twitter has had a banner year. Not only did they launch Fleets, but when they roll out their program for verification, it should give them momentum to build upon in 2021. For now, while you cannot apply to get verified just yet, you can go ahead and prepare your account so that when you can you are ready for Twitter verification.
