Facebook Work Group Types

In Facebook news, they are rolling out Facebook work group types.

If you run a Facebook Group, at your company, you can more easily connect with coworkers.

With Facebook work group types, you can collaborate with your coworkers and only show work-related information such as your job title, company and location. You'll still be able to message one another without needing to be friends.

How To Use Facebook Work Group Types

  1. Go to your Facebook Group
  2. Click on the … more option
  3. Click on "edit group settings"
  4. Change your Facebook Group type to "work"

In order to change your group type to a Work Group, you'll need to be an admin of the group. You can also switch back to other Facebook Group types at any time.

Group members can choose to disable the messaging option from the Group Settings menu.

You can access Facebook work group types via desktop, iOS and Android.

Why Facebook Work Group Types Matter For Your Business

Often times, people are hesitant to allow their coworkers (or boss) to connect with them on Facebook.

Facebook work group types make it much easier for you to collaborate with your coworkers without needing to friend everyone.

With Facebook work group types, you can be more selective about who you allow to connect with you on Facebook, while still getting the benefits of a Facebook Group and Messenger.

You can read the announcement about Facebook work group types here.

Updates To The Facebook Messenger Graph API

Also in Facebook news, they are rolling out updates to the Facebook Messenger Graph API.

The new updates will benefit businesses. Some of these updates include icebreakers, a way to help people start conversations with a business.

Facebook Messenger Graph API - Ice Breakers

Facebook Messenger Graph API updates include ice breakers to reduce the friction between a business and customer.

Other Facebook Messenger Graph API updates include the ability to view reactions and message replies so you can see which conversations a user is respond to.

Why Facebook Messenger Graph API Updates Matter For Your Business

You have to remember, as a business owner, you can't immediately move a customer from an initial meeting to a sale. It doesn't typically happen.

By adding Facebook Messenger Graph API updates such as icebreakers, you can begin to take extra steps to move customers ahead, instead of slowly moving the conversation along with them.

For example, you can surface common questions to help your customers faster, just by providing a few prompts and solutions for them. In addition, by adding the ability to react to messages, your business can get a better idea on whether the response was appropriate - maybe they reacted with an angry face?

You can read the announcement about updates to the Facebook Messenger graph API here.
