Social Chatter: Social Media Marketing Talk Show - Episode 202

Facebook Search Ads

In Facebook news, they are testing Facebook search ads. This is what search ads look like from back in 2012.

Facebook search ads are sponsored ads in search results.

Why Facebook Search Ads Matter For Your Business

While Facebook search ads are currently in testing, they aren't that new. If you've ever run Google AdWords, they're similar.

As a business, one thing you may want to consider is if Facebook Ads are working for you, set aside budget for Facebook search ads (if they are rolled out). This way you can target your competitors and other related search terms so help ensure your business shows up in Facebook search.

Remember, these are being tested, so they might not ever launch. In the meantime, run searches on Google and pay attention to the ads that show up when you query your competitors and apply those similar searches to Facebook search ads if they ever launched.

Pinterest Mobile Ad Tools

In Pinterest news, they are rolling out Pinterest mobile ad tools that will make it easy for you to create Pinterest ads in four steps.

According to Pinterest, you'll be able to run Pinterest ads from your mobile device by simply selecting a pin from your business profile, choosing automated or custom targeting and then picking the duration and overall budget for your campaign.

Why Pinterest Mobile Ad Tools Matter For Your Business

Pinterest mobile ad tools will help you create and run Pinterest ads from anywhere.

You'll gave the ability to adjust budgets and targeting, pause a Pinterest ad, edit the URL destination and campaign name and even view metrics from the Pinterest mobile ad tool, such as your ad spend, remaining campaign duration, see impressions, clicks, click-thru rate and saves of your pins.

By adding Pinterest mobile ad tools, you'll be able to leverage Pinterest ads to help grow your business or even those of your customers.

New, Improved Pinterest Product Recommendations

Also in Pinterest news, they have rolled out improved Pinterest product recommendations. When you see product pins - these are pins that show the pricing an availability, you'll see a new shopping section that includes "more from brand."

Why Improved Pinterest Product Recommendations Matter For Your Business

If your business has a brand catalog or feed, now you'll be able to have it show up thanks to new and improved Pinterest product recommendations. We like to compare these to the view you typically see on an e-commerce website when you've viewed a product or are looking at an item that would pair well with another.

Overall, this is an impressive move by Pinterest. It will help your business offer more opportunities to customers to make a purchase.

In Testing: Instagram Stories Background

In Instagram news, they are testing Instagram Stories background, a feature that allows you to select an image from your camera roll to use in the background of your Stories. Here is an example.

Why Instagram Stories Background Matters For Your Business

While Instagram Stories background only allows you to add a photo as your background, what is even more impressive is that it uses augmented reality to do this.

As a business owner, this is normally a very complex task (and most tools aren't usually accurate). While they only seem to support photos, at some point, we see them adding video backgrounds and much more.

Overall, this could be a useful feature because it would allow you to easily replace your background when creating Instagram Stories content - no need to clean-up a messy office. It can also obviously help you create stronger branded content when you're not in your office or near your studio.

Snapchat Instant Create Ads

In Snapchat news, they are launching Snapchat Instant Create, a way for advertisers to create ads in three steps

According to Snapchat, select your objective (increase web visits, app installs, or app visits), enter your business website and finalize your targeting.

Why Snapchat Instant Create Matters For Your Business

With Instant Create and the Advanced Create option, you can either quickly get started reaching an engaged audience on Snapchat to create a single ad or use the Advanced Create option to create multiple Ad Sets.

As a business owner, Instant Create removes the barriers and streamlines the ad creation process. While they use popular templates and simple ad details, they make it easier for you to create Snapchat Ads in much less time.

Keep in mind, Snapchat Instant Create ads only support Snap Ads and are only available to advertisers using their self-service Ads Manager. If you want to use other ad formats, try the Advanced Create option.
