This Week's Social Media Updates
We experienced issues recording this week's episode of Social Chatter, your weekly social media marketing talk show.
Here are the updates that we discussed during the show.
Instagram Stories With Snapchat Geostickers
In Instagram news, they are rolling out geostickers.
Why Instagram Geostickers Matter
Like Snapchat, Instagram will soon offer geostickers.
These will let you add stickers based on your location to your Instagram content.
Right now, they are rolling these out to select locations but they will become available to everyone in the near future.
Once they do, this will allow your business to tap into your local market and include Instagram geostickers in your content for Instagram Stories.
As a business, this should benefit you as you cultivate a following with customers in your area. They'll also begin to appreciate the content that you share on Instagram using geostickers.
You can read more about Instagram geostickers here.
Facebook Messenger Day Goes Global
In Facebook news, they are releasing Messenger Day.
Why Facebook Messenger Day Matters
Facebook Messenger Day is a new feature from Facebook for creating and sharing your day with friends.
According to Facebook, you can choose from more than 5,000 frames, effects and stickers to make today your day."
Here is a short video showing you how Messenger Day works.
With Messenger Day, whatever you add to your day expires in 24 hours, just like it does on Snapchat.
This is how you access Facebook Messenger Day from Messenger.
Here is how to add items to Facebook Messenger Day.
So far, we haven't noticed too many people using Facebook Messenger Day to plan their day out.
Instead, people have used it to create their own Facebook Stories instead, showcasing what they have done that day.
It is important to note that with Messenger Day, you can choose which of your connections can view your Facebook Messenger Day videos.

Facebook 360 for Gear VR
This week, Facebook announced a 360 app for Gear VR.
Why Facebook 360 for Gear VR Matters
We're particularly excited about this week's update from Facebook.
For some time, Facebook has rolled out 360 content.
Up until now though, if you wanted to tap into the VR headsets, you couldn't.
Fortunately, with a new standalone app for Gear VR, you have another way to explore Facebook 360 content.
As a business, you should be excited.
If you've venture into investing in a 360 camera and regularly share 360 content, you'll be able to reach more people through the Gear VR heardset, which is powered by Facebook's own Oculus.

Facebook Live Video on Profiles
Also in Facebook news, Facebook has added a new feature to Facebook Profiles that allows a friend to create a Facebook Live video on your Profile.
Why Friends Using Facebook Live Video on Profiles Matters
For some time, Facebook has been working on adding new features to Facebook Live video.
While we're still waiting on the ability to run Facebook Live videos for Pages, this new feature could be a sign of things to come.
What this new feature let's you do is you can do to a friend's Facebook Profile.
If they have their privacy settings set to allow you to post on their timeline, you'll get a Facebook Live video option.
You'll be able to record a live video, add various effects to your videos and more.
This could be extremely useful if you want to record a birthday message for a friend of a customer who you are friend's with.
To record a Facebook Live video on a friend's profile, go to their profile and look for the live video icon.
From there, click it and record a live video.
A big thanks to last week's guest on Social Chatter, Lisa Monks, for alerting us about this feature.
In addition to sharing the latest in social media news from this past week, we also highlighted some great tools and apps to check out.
The first tool we have for you this week is called Duet Display (iOS).
Would you like more space on your computer screen?
Maybe you want to have your social media dashboard such as Hootsuite open while you're working?
Instead of purchasing a separate monitor, you can use Duet Display and your iPad.
Simply plugin your iPad into your computer and launch Duet Display.
