Description

Encrypto is a free, easy-to-use app that lets you encrypt files with AES-256 encryption and then send them to friends or coworkers. It works on both Mac and Windows, so you can send encrypted files without worrying whether the other person can open it or not.

Protect Files with AES-256 Encryption
Take any file or folder and add AES-256 encryption to it. Let Encrypto give you peace of mind when it comes to the security of your files when sending them.

Send Password Hints
Instead of relaying a password, include a unique, embedded password hint that only the recipient would be able to decipher.

Send Files Using OS X Sharing
Share encrypted files via Mail, AirDrop, or Messages, or even share them with third-party apps like Dropbox. However you usually share, Encrypto has you covered.

Or Save Them to Disk
With Encrypto, you can encrypt your files even if you don’t need to send them. You know, for file security on your hard drive. Just put your file through Encrypto and boom — it’s protected.

Encrypt and Decrypt on Both Mac and Windows
Share files with friends no matter their OS. You use a Mac, your friend uses Windows — you both can encrypt and send files to each other with Encrypto.

The Swiss Knife of File Security

Any long time Mac user knows MacPaw has never let down when it comes to software development. And this app is no exception. Wheter your need is to email a file and keep away prying eyes or to store it securely on a device, card or cloud. This app does the work for you, with high grade security and outputs a file you can not only use but provide a hint to aid with the password. I use this to keep cloud based files secure. As well as emailing confidential or sensitive information. Great job MacPaw!

Best Replacement for GoSecure So Far

Best (only?!) single file encryptor bar-none. I held off moving to macOS Catalina because I couldn't find a good replacement for GoSecure - one of the best single file encryptors out there that no longer exists and isn't 64-bit compatible. I was getting disheartened but finally found Encrypto the same day I finally had to upgrade to Catalina. SO GRATEFUL I DID. I hate that most encryptors force you to put all your files IN ONE SPOT. NO! I don't encrypt that way and it's absurd forcing all encrypted files to be stored in one place, or have to create multiple encrypted mountable disks simply for this purpose. THANK THE GODS Encrypto came to the rescue and allows one to INDIVIDUALLY encrypt files with PW hints - just what I was looking for!!! It could provide a few more bells and whistles but is a very good start. Would even pay something to make it even better. Keep up the great work and thank you!!

Nice for encrypting and de-crypting

If your goal is to install this application on every machine you wish to share an encrypted file with, then this is the app for you. However this application is very limited with is compatibility. For example, you are created a duplicate version of your desired file(s) with their own filetype and password, so if you want to view or modify those files on another machine you are forced to use their software in order to do this. I would not recommend this application for those of you who simply want a way to password protect your files, as the added hassle of going back through the originating app tends to get annoying really quick.
