Did you know that Instagram lets your followers know the last time you were on Instagram thanks to your Instagram activity status?

Unfortunately, Instagram just rolled this feature out to users through an update and turned it on by default for everyone.

As a result, if you go to the direct message section on Instagram, you can see when someone you follow (and who also follows you back), was last online. Yikes!

Fortunately, they make it easy to disable your activity status if you want to protect your privacy on Instagram.

How to Disable Your Instagram Activity Status On iOS

1. Launch Instagram
    
   
2. Tap on your profile icon (avatar)
    
   
3. Tap on the gear icon
4. Turn "show activity status" off on Instagram
    
   

How to Disable Your Instagram Activity Status On Android

If you have an Android device, here are instructions on how you can disable the activity status on Instagram.

1. Launch Instagram
2. Tap on your profile icon (avatar) in the bottom right
3. Tap on the three vertical dots
4. In the options menu, turn off "show activity status" on Instagram

When you disable the "show activity status" feature on Instagram, the people who you follow won't be able to see the last time that you were active on Instagram.
