Instagram Ad Objectives For Stories

In Instagram news, they are adding new objectives to Instagram Ads for Stories.

Why Instagram Ad Objectives For Stories Matter For Your Business

In just a few short years, Instagram has become a leading social media channel for businesses.

With this week's update, new ad objectives for Stories, Instagram has now become a full-funnel solution for your business.

What this means is that businesses can now "purchase ads in Instagram Stories across additional objectives—Video Views, Traffic (formerly known as Website Clicks), Conversions and Mobile App Install" and reach customers during every stage of their funnel.

As a business, if you're just getting started with Instagram, you can start at the basic level and begin advertising to the top of your funnel and move them down through your funnel as your channel grows, leading to conversions.

Instagram Archives

Also in Instagram news, they have added archiving.

Why Instagram Archives Matter For Your Business

Have you ever made a post on Instagram and wanted to take it down?

Maybe you didn't have the necessary approvals yet?

Instead of having to delete the post and create it again, Instagram now offers an archive feature.

This is what Instagram's archiving feature looks like.

With Instagram archiving, your business can hide any of your posts from everyone except you.

This way if you ever need to restore a post, you won't have to spend time recreating the post.

To use the Instagram archive feature, tap the "…" three-dots button on one of your posts and select the archive option.

To restore an archived Instagram post, tap on the clock icon in the top-right.

You will be able to see your archived posts and restore them.

Twitter Direct Message Filters

In Twitter news, you can now filter your Direct Messages or DMs.

Why Twitter Direct Message Filters Matter For Your Business

One of the frustrating things about Twitter Direct Messages has been the inability to filter out conversations from people you don't know.

Twitter has added "Inbox" and "Requests" to your Direct Messages.

Now when you receive a DM from someone you know, they will go into the Inbox tab.

If someone sends you a DM and you do not know them, they will go under "requests."

From there, you can move the conversation to your Inbox.

This is what Twitter Direct Message Filters look like.

As a business, this will be a great way to filter out a lot of the unwanted auto-direct messages you often receive on Twitter and cutdown on abuse.

In addition, you'll be able to quickly get to the messages you need to read from current and potential customers.

Facebook Expands Fundraisers

Facebook fundraising examples

In Facebook news, they have expanded fundraisers to more people and causes.

Why Facebook Fundraisers Matter For Your Business

Is your business passionate about a particular cause?

Maybe you went into business because of a certain person or to support someone?

To help people raise money for a friend, themselves or a sick pet directly on Facebook, Facebook introduced fundraisers.

They are expanding Facebook fundraisers to the following categories.

  • Education: such as tuition, books or classroom supplies
  • Medical: such as medical procedures, treatments or injuries
  • Pet Medical: such as veterinary procedures, treatments or injuries
  • Crisis Relief: such as public crises or natural disasters
  • Personal Emergency: such as a house fire, theft or car accident
  • Funeral and Loss: such as burial expenses or living costs after losing a loved one
  • Sports: such as equipment, competitions or team fees
  • Community: such as neighborhood services, community improvements or environmental improvements

To setup a Facebook fundraiser, follow these instructions.

Setting up Facebook fundraisers takes a fraction of time, but can have a big impact on another person or cause that you are passionate about.

You can read the announcement about Facebook fundraisers on the official Facebook blog.

Facebook Posts With Background Designs

Also in Facebook news, they have updated the background designs available for Facebook Profile posts.

Why Facebook Profile Background Designs Matter For Your Business

It can be hard to stand out in the Facebook News Feed.

By introducing background designs for Facebook Profiles, whenever you're planning to share something, think about how you can make it better.

For example, when you are going to post a text update, would a background design make it stand out more?

If you're collecting research for your business and want to poll your friends, using a background design with your post could also be a good way to stand out.

Consider using certain background colors to see which one generates the most engagement for you.

Here is how to use Facebook Profile background designs in your next post.

These also work on the desktop as well as mobile so you're not limited when or where you use them.

Pinterest Autoplay Videos In Your Feed

Pinterest autoplay videos
In Pinterest news, they are rolling out autoplay videos.

Why Pinterest Autoplay Videos Matter For Your Business

Pinterest autoplay videos have been added to Pinterest's ad product.

Advertisers can now publish videos that autoplay in the home feed as well as in search.

According to TechCrunch, "Pinterest's pitch is that unlike Facebook and Google, which can offer a compelling ad product for one point of that part of a customer's buying life, it can offer products across the whole timeline."

Last week we discussed how Pinterest was different.

They focus more on the life of a pin over time, whereas Facebook and other social media channels focus on the here and now.

With Pinterest autoplay videos, this seems to be the case as well.

As a business owner, although you may not be running a lot of autoplay videos, it is important to think about the life of your pins.

For example, instead of creating quick content, put time into creating a strong evergreen piece of content. Something that if pinned, can stand the test of time.

The more quality content that you publish and that gets pinned, the more value you can drive using Pinterest.
