Updates to Facebook Messenger Tags

In Facebook news, they have updated Messenger tags.

Why Updates to Facebook Messenger Tags Matter For Your Business

Facebook Messenger is about to get smarter.

Facebook is adding a number of new tags to help businesses.

For example, they've added the following: account_update, payment_update, and personal_finance_update.

These might seem insignificant, but they'll help your business out significantly when you're using Messenger bots.

For example, by adding the payment_update tag, you'll be able to send receipts to customers, notify them about a refund or change to a specific purchase transaction, such as a refund via Facebook Messenger.

As a business, this can save you a lot of time if you're having to manage everything because Facebook Messenger can help offload some of those responses to customers.

You can read more about Facebook Messenger tags here.

See Recent Facebook Ad Activity

Also this week, Facebook rolled out a way to see what Facebook Ad activity you clicked on.

Why Seeing Facebook Ad Activity You Clicked Matters For Your Business

Have you seen Facebook Ads that you were impressed with?

Maybe you want to revisit them later on.

This week, Facebook is adding a way to see recent Facebook Ad activity to the Facebook mobile app.

You can go in and see the past three months of ads that you clicked on, liked, commented on or shared.

You can also see which ads you saved as well.

As a business, this is a handy feature because you can go back and look at some of the campaigns others are running that you liked and try them out yourself.

Here is how to access recent Facebook Ad activity.

Facebook Removes Ad Targeting Options

This week, Facebook also removed four ad targeting options when running Facebook Ads.

These include people’s school, employer, field of study and job title.

Why Removing Facebook Ad Targeting Options Matters For Your Business

They removed these ad targeting options because it was determined that people could discriminate against someone using these targeting options.

As a business, these certainly reduce your targeting when running Facebook Ads.

The good news is that if you are currently running Facebook Ads using their targeting options, these changes won’t apply.

They will apply to future campaigns though.

You can read the announcement about removing these ad targeting options here.

Snapchat Launches Bitmojis World Lenses

In Snapchat news, they have launched bitmoji world lenses.

Why Snapchat Bitmoji World Lenses Matter For Your Business

Snapchat now let's you take your bitmoji and apply them to world lenses.

Here is an example of Snapchat bitmoji world lenses in action.

They're pretty amazing.

We're now able to apply an object to a physical space and manipulate it as if it were physically there.

While some of the examples of Snapchat bitmoji world lenses don't seem applicable for your business right now, you have to remember, we're just getting started.

Apple is releasing ARkit, which let's you place virtual objects in a physical space.

Over time, we expect more world lenses to come to Snapchat.

To try out Snapchat bitmoji world lenses, here's how.

How to Use Snapchat Bitmoji World Lenses

Instagram Autoplays Video Sound

In Instagram news, they now autoplay video sound.

Why Instagram Autoplaying Video Sound Matters For Your Business

Instagram has recently rolled out an update to their mobile app.

This new update brings change to how Instagram works for autoplaying organic videos and ads.

Here is how it works.

When you open Instagram, your videos will autoplay with the sound off.

If you then tap to turn on the sound for one video, all other autoplay videos will play with the sound on.

You can turn this off for Instagram autoplay videos by turning off the sound on one video.

When you close the app, this resets your Instagram autoplay video and they autoplay with the sound off.

As a business, we like this feature from Instagram.

If a user turns the sound on for autoplay Instagram videos, they'll now hear yours too.

It is also important to note that videos for Instagram Stories will use your settings and will only play if the sound isn't muted.

You can read more about this update to Instagram here.

Pinterest Opens Self-Serve Version of Pin Collective

In Pinterest news, they are launching a self-serve version of Pin Collective.

Why A Self-Serve Version of Pin Collective Matters For Your Business

Pinterest introduced the Pinterest Pin Collective program back in 2016.

This was a platform to find creatives to produce branded content for Promoted Pin campaigns.

The only problem with the program was that it excluded a lot of smaller advertisers.

This week, Pinterest is rolling out a self-serve version of the Pin Collective.

It would allow smaller advertisers to find creatives to produce branded content for Promoted Pins on Pinterest.

“Once that Pinterest-identified influencer is hired by the brand and the content is produced, it can be used as advertising creative on the social network/visual search engine.”

Overall, if your business relies a lot on Pinterest, this is a win for smaller advertisers who aren’t on the same level as brands such as Adidas.

Pinterest Featuring Drag-and-Drop Pins in iOS 11

Also this week, Pinterest rolled out an update to the iPad version of their app.

This new version supports iOS 11’s drag-and-drop feature.

Why iOS 11’s Drag-and-Drop Feature In Pinterest Matters For Your Business

This week, Apple announced iOS 11.

One of the new features is the ability to use drag-and-drop on your iPad.

As a Pinterest user, this will help you streamline how you work.

For example, rather than tap here and there, you can now drag-and-drop many items.

This will help you improve your efficiency on Pinterest and make it easier to quickly pin items.

Here is what that looks like on an iPad.

Tools

In addition to sharing the latest news from this past week, we also highlighted some great social media tools and apps for you to check out.

Storeo

Storeo - iOS

The first tool that we have discovered this week is called Storeo (iOS).

Would you like to increase the length of your Instagram Stories?

Currently, you're limited to 1 to 15 seconds when creating stories for Instagram.

With Storeo, you can record Instagram Stories that are an unlimited length.

Storeo also makes it easy for you to make your Instagram Stories seamless because you won't have to record short 15 second videos.

Another thing we like about Storeo is that you can repurpose them.

For example, you can upload them to Instagram.

You can also then take them and add them to your Facebook Stories.

Storeo is available as a freemium app.

You can download Storeo from the link below.

PlaceIt

The second tool that we have for you this week is called PlaceIt (web).

PlaceIt makes it easy for you to create beautiful mockups and demo videos using your brand assets, website and more.

In seconds, you can have your business show up across various mockups and videos.

The great thing about PlaceIt is that you don't have to hire an expensive designer or try and create them yourself.

Simply enter in a website URL you want to display and you'll have a beautiful mockup to use in your businesses marketing materials.

PlaceIt is available for one-time use. They also offer a subscription option that starts at $29 per month.
