Pinterest Video Ads For Everyone

Facebook Stories on desktop
In Pinterest news, they are rolling out video ads for everyone.

Why Pinterest Video Ads Matter For Your Business

"75 percent of consumers say they're likely to watch videos with topics that interest them compared with 55 percent on other platforms."

"Another 80 percent of people who watch Pinterest videos say they help them learn how to do something, versus 66 percent of consumers who say the same about competitors."

Armed with this data, Pinterest is rolling out video ads, clearly because the data suggests this is the right move.

With Pinterest ads, you will be able to target search results as well as someone's Pinterest feed.

You can read more about Pinterest video ads here.

Pinterest Search Improvements

Also in Pinterest news this week, they are rolling out some additional features to help you find what you're looking for.

Why New Pinterest Search Improvements Matter For Your Business

Pinterest has rolled out two new features - pinch to zoom on pins and improvements to visual search.

Pinch to Zoom On Pins

The first update is pinch to zoom on pins.

The next time you're on the Pinterest app and you spot something you want to take a closer look at, simply pinch-to-zoom.

You'll be able to see additional details, the texture - if it's clothing or housewares and more.

Here's how the Pinterest pinch-to-zoom feature works.

Improving Pinterest Visual Search

The next update on Pinterest this week are improvements to visual search.

With enhancements to the visual search feature on Pinterest, it's now easier to reach.

You'll also get faster results to find related pins.

Here's what the enhanced visual search looks like.

One other thing to mention about visual search is that you can perform them around the web too.

All you need is the Pinterest Save button to start performing visual searches on the web.

Facebook Page Cover Photo Descriptions

In Facebook news, you now have a cover photo description for your Page.

Why a Facebook Page Cover Photo Description Matters For Your Business

When people are visiting your Facebook Page from the Facebook mobile app, they can now see a 100 character description.

This description makes it easy for your business to tell visitors what is important so that they can take action on your Page.

Right now, this is only available from the Facebook mobile app.

This is what it looks like.

To edit your Facebook Page cover photo description, be sure you're in the Facebook mobile app on your Facebook Page.

From there, simply tap on the pencil icon and type out a new description to describe your business.

Remember, Facebook Page cover photo descriptions need to be less than 100 characters.

Facebook Custom Audiences For Store Visits

Also this week, Facebook rolled out new custom audiences for store visits.

Why Facebook Custom Audiences for Store Visits Matters For Your Business

Our good friend and previous guest on Social Chatter, Moshe Isaacian, spotted this.

As a business, if you run a brick and mortar business, you'll likely want to take advantage of this type of custom audience to run Facebook Ads targeted at customers who visit your store.

This way you'll be able to better target your Facebook Ads at customers who visit your store.

Facebook Updates News Feed and Camera

In an effort to improve your Facebook news feed and pack in more content, Facebook is making some changes this week to improve conversations.

Why Facebook Updates to News Feed Matters For Your Business

Here's a look at what is changing in your news feed and how it impacts your business.

First up, they want to make it easier to have conversations.

The comment style has now been replaced with the following.

Some additional updates to your news feed are as follows.

  • Increased color contrast
  • Larger link previews
  • Updated icons for Like, Comment and Share
  • Circular Profile photos
    •

In addition, when someone shares a link, you'll now be able to see where it will take you without clicking on it.

You can easily navigate back to the post you were on in news feed with just a few taps.

While most of the changes to news feed are cosmetic, they will have an impact on your business.

For example, the circular profiles mean you'll want to update your current photo to make sure it still works with the new design.

If you're in the business of sharing links that aren't ethical, people can now see where a link is going, so this may require changes to your business practices.

An Easier Way to Share YouTube Videos

In YouTube news, they are making it easier to share videos.

Why An Easier Way to Share YouTube Videos Matters For Your Business

Previously, if you wanted to share YouTube videos with friends or customers, you had to copy and link into an email or onto a socials media channel in order to share it.

According to YouTube, "starting today, you can share videos with your friends and family directly on YouTube. Not only can you share and receive videos in the app, you can also chat about them right on YouTube, reply with another video, invite others to the conversation, and more. We think it'll make sharing easier, faster and more fun on your phone. And if you want to continue sharing videos through other apps, you can still do that too."

Here's how the new YouTube video sharing works.

As a business, this is great news if you are building relationships with your customers and connecting with them on your social media channels.

Now when you find a video you want to share with a friend or customer, you can quickly tag them and include them in a threaded message.

If you're a business, this can be a great way to answer questions for everyone in the thread to see.

This is what the thread would look like when you shared a YouTube video.

      Snapchat Crowd Surf

One of the big new features this week from Snapchat is Crowd Surf.

Snapchat Crowd Surf uses artificial intelligence to analyze when people are recording the same musical performance at the same time.

It can then stitch together different angles while keeping the audio intact.

Here is a video from the Lorde concert showing how Snapchat Crow Surf works.

As a business owner, right now it's great for concerts.

We could also see this being useful for businesses who put on live events or conferences, this could be a great way to create a recap and to show different perspectives from people who attended.

In the meantime, you can read more about Snapchat Crowd Surf here.

      How to Share Snapchat Stories

Snapchat also rolled out the ability to share Snapchat Stories.

This means you won't be confined to just viewing someone's snaps.

You can now share them. Here's how.

      Share Snapchat Stories

      1. Update your Snapchat app
      2. Open someone else's story
      3. Tap the three white dots
      4. Select people to share their snap with

    Instagram Comment Threads

In Instagram news, they are rolling out comment threads.

Why Instagram Comment Threads Mater For Your Business

Instagram wants to make conversations easier.

To do this, they are rolling out Instagram comment threads.

This is what they look like.

As a business, it can be difficult to follow conversations on Instagram.

Now, if you want to reply to someone on Instagram, simply hit reply underneath a comment.

Your response will be grouped underneath the appropriate thread.

This not only makes it easier for you to see which customers you have responded to, but your audience can also follow the conversation a lot better.

Instagram comment threads will be rolling out to everyone on iOS and Android in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, you may want to take some time top familiarize yourself with the new comment threading on Instagram.

You can read the announcement about Instagram's comment threads here.
